Montreal, Quebec – 23 December 2021. Quebec-based AMD Medicom Inc. (“Medicom”), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of surgical masks and respirators, is expanding surgical N95 respirator production capacity in Canada at its recently built plant in Montreal, Quebec. The Medicom SafeMask Architect Pro Surgical N95 respirator has been approved and cleared for use in healthcare settings under the FDA/NIOSH MOU 225-18-006. The additional capacity will be offered to new and existing customers in several new market segments across North America.

“To date, production has been reserved for existing government contracts. We are proud to be able to begin offering surgical N95 respirators that meet the requirements of Title 42, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 84 (42 CFR 84), to additional market segments in Canada and the U.S. We look forward to continuing to provide these high-quality products to protect frontline workers across North America throughout the ongoing pandemic, whenever and wherever they are needed,” confirmed John Tourlas, President, Medicom North America.

The SafeMask Architect Pro respirator has also received CSA certification. Accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), CSA Group’s certification program includes a special-purpose laboratory dedicated to the testing and certification of medical personal protective equipment (PPE), including medical filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs), to the specified particulate filter efficiency (PFE) level, as required by Health Canada’s interim order (IO).

As a Canadian manufacturer of medical masks, respirators and other critical PPE, we are proud to produce surgical N95 respirators that meet the stringent standards established by certifying bodies such as the CSA and NIOSH,” stated Guillaume Laverdure, Medicom Group COO. “We take great pride in the protection we provide to healthcare professionals around the world and our certifications attest to our commitment to ensuring the highest levels of quality and reliability for all of the products we manufacture across the globe.”
