Medicom Expands Production Capacity for NIOSH and CSA Approved Surgical Respirators in Canada

Montreal, Quebec – 23 December 2021. Quebec-based AMD Medicom Inc. (“Medicom”), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of surgical masks and respirators, is expanding surgical N95 respirator production capacity in Canada at its recently built plant in Montreal, Quebec. The Medicom SafeMask Architect Pro Surgical N95 respirator has been approved and cleared for use in healthcare settings under the FDA/NIOSH MOU 225-18-006. The additional capacity will be offered to new and existing customers in several new market segments across North America.

The SafeMask Architect Pro respirator has also received CSA certification. Accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), CSA Group’s certification program includes a special-purpose laboratory dedicated to the testing and certification of medical personal protective equipment (PPE), including medical filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs), to the specified particulate filter efficiency (PFE) level, as required by Health Canada’s interim order (IO).
