Turning Kilometres into Care: Supporting Enfant Soleil Through 500K for the Kids

A Journey with Purpose

What started as an impressive personal milestone quickly became something much bigger.

As Medicom team member Martin Brandl’s car approached 400,000 kilometres, it sparked conversations everywhere he went. Reaching that kind of distance is no small feat — and it led to a powerful question:

What if those kilometres could help make a difference?

From that simple idea, 500K for the Kids was born: “I’ve donated to Enfant Soleil for years because supporting children who need specialized care matters deeply to me. I’m fortunate to have healthy kids and grandkids; and I don’t take that for granted. If reaching 500,000 kilometres can help raise $50,000 for families who need specialized care, then every kilometre is worth it.” – Martin Brandl

Founded in 1988, Enfant Soleil works to ensure children across Quebec have access to the best possible healthcare. Through fundraising initiatives like its annual Telethon, the organization helps fund essential medical equipment, specialized treatments, and innovative care programs that improve children’s quality of life — physically, mentally, and socially.

The impact reaches hospitals, clinics, and families throughout the province, helping ensure young patients receive the care they need, when they need it most.
