Founded in 1988 during the global HIV crisis, Medicom was established as an endeavor to distribute and supply medical gloves in response to the shortage of this critical protection for healthcare professionals.

Since then, Medicom’s 35 years of growth and evolution included:

• 1997: Acquisition of United Medical Enterprises (UME) to establish made in the USA production of masks and other infection prevention products.
• 1998: Acquisition of AMD Ritmed to further expand into the medical segment and jumpstart the apparel and gown category of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• 1999: Establishment of key partnership to form Medicom Asia, leading to the building of the first factory in China in 2002, investment in Japan in 2003, and the acquisition of a factory in Taiwan in 2010.
• 2011: Acquisition of France-based Kolmi Hopen, a leader in face mask production.
• 2019: The business is supported by 1100+ team members around the world.
• 2020: Medicom quickly responded to the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic and expanded mask production in North America and Europe resulting in the set-up of 6 new factories to manufacture masks and N95/FFP respirators amid the pandemic.
• 2021: Global team nearly doubled to 2000+ in two years.
• 2022: Additional nitrile glove and mask filter manufacturing capabilities added to ensure vertical integration and supply chain resiliency.
