Medicom is a Canadian company and world-leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality PPE and infection control solutions, specializing in medical grade surgical and respiratory masks and gloves.

Headquartered in Montreal, for over 30 years, Medicom has provided reliable PPE and infection control solutions throughout numerous international health crises, including the Avian Flu, SARS, H1N1, Ebola and now, COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic revealed gaps in emergency preparedness and in the reliability of global supply chains.

At the outset of the pandemic, over 90 countries implemented export restrictions and/or appropriations on PPE. Global supply chains broke down and raw materials became scarce. Inadequate domestic supply and manufacturing capabilities left Canadian frontline healthcare workers without PPE.

Opportunistic fly-by-night suppliers entered the market peddling poor quality, unvetted products. Well-established suppliers engaged in questionable practices like price-gouging or failing to honour contracts. Goods were being sourced from manufacturers with low environmental and labour standards.

As an established company with over 30 years of infection control expertise and a solid reputation for the quality and reliability of our products, Medicom is the ideal partner to help ensure Canada has a domestic supply of high-quality, critical PPE to ensure that we’re ready for future emergencies.

Medicom is a Canadian company, a trusted partner to governments and a leading healthcare brand around the world. It has established global manufacturing capability with 11 manufacturing facilities on three continents, including one in Canada.

Medicom has been managing Hong Kong’s
strategic national stockpile for surgical masks and gowns since SARS in 2003.

Medicom is growing fast!
During the COVID pandemic, we partnered with governments and healthcare authorities and built new facilities in Canada, the US, the UK, Singapore, and France, where we just announced a major automated factory project for the production of disposable nitrile gloves.

Medicom is already working with the Government of Canada on domestic production of N95 respirator masks and ASTM Level 3 surgical earloop masks to ensure reliable domestic supply. The company recently announced the creation of Meltech Innovation, a new manufacturing subsidiary dedicated to the production and innovation of the inner filter material used in the manufacture of these masks. As a result of this and other local initiatives, Canada will no longer be the only OECD-country that does not have domestic production of this critical meltblown polypropylene filter.

Partnering with Medicom not only ensures emergency preparedness but also provides economic benefits and ensures Canadian values are respected.

Medicom is the ideal partner to help Canada secure an ethical, sustainable, domestic supply of masks, gloves and other critical PPE, ensuring that this country is ready for future emergencies and positioning Canada to lead in an essential global sector.

We hope to deepen our partnership with Canada and build a manufacturing facility here at home to produce the medical-grade nitrile gloves needed to protect Canadian frontline workers.

Medicom already employs 300 people in Canada, in well-paid, middle-class jobs. Our targeted expansion will create many more jobs in Canada.

The capacity of the planned mask facility will significantly exceed Canada’s needs, allowing us to serve other customers.

In addition to immediate job creation and economic benefits, Medicom’s new manufacturing facility will drive innovation.

Our streamlined factory design leverages
the “Internet of Things”, automated devices and “smart” inspection devices.
