Courses & Times:

7-8 PM ET / 4-5 PM PT: Respiratory Protection: Keeping Yourself and Others Safe

 

Course Description: This course will take an in-depth look at the science behind surgical masks, how masks are made and how to wear a mask correctly for optimal protection.

Objectives

  • Explain when to wear a mask and what masks protect against.  
  • Identify the differences between a surgical mask and an N95 respirator. 
  • Describe ASTM standards and how masks are tested to ensure compliance 
  • Select the correct level of mask for various tasks 
  • Explain how to correctly wear a face mask 
Speaker: Marti Bourland
Marti has been the Southern US Territory Manager for Medicom since 2020. With over 20 years of experience in the dental industry, she enjoys sharing her infection control expertise as a CE lecturer.

 

8-9 PM ET / 5-6 PM PT: The Importance and Use of Surface Disinfectants

 

Course Description: This course will focus on the science and regulations behind surface disinfectants, how they work and how to use them correctly.

Objectives

  • Describe the disinfection standards set by the CDC.
  • Explain the difference between cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and barrier protection, and know when to
    use each process.
  • Describe the 3 different types of disinfectants on the market.
  • Understand the difference between “Kill Time” and “Product Contact Time”.
  • Select and correctly use disinfectants.

Linda has been the Western Canada Territory Manager since 2020. Her passion for science and dental hygiene paved her path towards education and collaboration with her colleagues and peers over the last 20 years. Linda enjoys sharing her expertise as an infection control specialist and CE lecturer.

 

9-10 PM ET / 6-7 PM PT: The Importance and Use of Sterilization Pouches

 

Course Description: This course will discuss how sterilization pouches are made, how to use them correctly and the regulations applicable to sterilization processing.

Objectives

  • Describe the importance of using sterilization pouches in healthcare settings 
  • Describe the importance of chemical indicators 
  • Explain how to load a sterilization pouch 
  • Determine if a sterilization pouch has been successfully processed 
  • Follow sterilization standards and recommendations
